All ages welcome

Join the Institute for Creative Music and artist-in-residence Matthew Golombisky for a concert of experimental new music featuring instrumentalists, vocalists, and audience participants of all ages and abilities. Collectively learn and play original compositions to create a new incarnation of Golombisky’s “Tomorrow Music Orchestra”; combining elements of jazz, classical, experimental music, poetry, and more… The pieces include performance roles for the audience regardless of musical ability and experience (but you can also just listen and observe). This performance will feature students from area school music programs, professionals, and community players. Anyone interested in taking a more involved performance role is encouraged to attend the 4/27 rehearsal (register here).

This concert also features performances by the Denton Jazz Workshops and the IfCM Collective. The Denton Jazz Workshops gather people of all ages, backgrounds, and instrument/voice-types to learn and play jazz songs, style, and improvisation together in fun small-group ensembles. The IfCM Collective (the showcase ensemble for the IfCM) blend reimaginings of contemporary artists like Prince, Björk, and St. Vincent, experimental improvisation, and original compositions.

All proceeds from this event go directly to support IfCM programming for all ages including the Denton Jazz Workshops and Creative Music Kids. These classes run on sliding scale payments and all are encouraged to participate regardless of ability to pay. The IfCM wishes to be 100% inclusive of all interested people and our programming is made possible by donations from members of the community.

In addition to the students from the community, this incarnation of TMO will include:

Madison Russell (voice)

Vianey Rivera (violin)

Chris Van Leeuwen (trumpet)

Grace Frarey (alto sax/flute)

Will St. Peter (guitar)

Patrick Overturf (vibes)

August Bish (bass)

Chris Teal (drums)

Matthew Golombisky (compositions)
