Fall Workshops: Experiencing Jazz and Experiencing Creative Music
This fall the Institute for Creative Music will offer one-off community workshops to focus on two essential elements of our organization: jazz and creative music.
Experiencing Jazz: A listening workshop with Dr. Kim Teal and the IfCM Collective
Understand how jazz musicians use songs as vehicles for improvisation and learn about the roles of common jazz instruments through an engaging live demonstration.
All ages, family friendly!
Saturday, September 30th, 1-2pm.
Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (1111 Cordell Street)
Free and open to the public, no registration necessary.
Experiencing Creative Music: A performance and composition workshop with Matthew Golombisky
Compose and rehearse new music that connects classical, jazz, metal, pop, hip hop, and experimental sounds. Participants are invited to perform this music the following day (10/8, 2pm-3pm) at the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival.
Open to participants ages 11 and up. All instruments and voice-types are welcome.
Saturday, October 7th, 9am-1pm.
Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (1111 Cordell Street)
$50 registration. Sliding scale pricing available! Free for Denton Jazz Workshop members. Participants should pack a lunch.
